Event: Chillout at Singapore's latest music bar - Live Stage

Hi everyone!

If you enjoy listening to live music, drinking or just chilling with friends, there's a new bar in town that you can check out.

I got to visit the bar last Saturday for their Mini Concert Series, thanks to an invitation by Flame Communications.

Located at Central Mall, Live Stage Music and Bar provides a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and for music enthusiasts to gather and enjoy good music.

Central Mall is around a 15 minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT Station and it is along Magazine Road so please do not confuse it with The Central Mall that is located right beside Clarke Quay MRT Station. :D

Live Stage isn't a large bar and as you can see from the picture, many of the tables are situated close to the stage.

The bar can contain an approximate capacity of 100 pax and it provides a cosy and intimate setting where the artists can be close and interact with their audience. The downside though is that the music can be pretty loud, especially if you're seated closer to the drums.

Evidently, I am not a drinker so even when provided with a list of alcohol selection, I choose to go for the good ol' cranberry juice.

Blogger friends Hong Peng and Jing Ting were there as well!

Although I started off sitting at one of the cocktail tables near the stage, I actually prefer to lounge around on these comfortable plush seats. :D

In terms of performance, Live Stage features a good mix of regional and local ones. Some of Live Stage's local singers include Cheryl Tan (Mon & Thurs), Midori Liu (Tues & Fri) and Boon Hui Lu (Wed & Sat).

Hui Lu was the local performer of the Mini Concert Series that night and I was completely blown away by her voice.

Hui Lu is one of the Top 40 contestants of Mediacorp's reality-singing competition, The Final 1 and she has such a beautiful and powerful voice. With an amazing versatility in English and Mandarin, Hui Lu impressed the audience with her covers of several familiar pop songs.

In fact, check out Hui Lu's cover of 'Jar of Hearts' by Christina Perri. She can even mimic Christina Perri's singing style!

This month, Live Stage also features several singers from The Voice of China, a popular music competition in China which has garnered over 400 million views.

That night, 19-year-old Beijing singer, Li Wenqi from The Voice of China Season 3 was invited to perform in Singapore. I have previously watched her performances on youtube so it was exciting to watch her live performance on stage.

Wenqi has a really lovely and angelic voice. Whenever she sings slow, soulful songs, I can't help but picture a little girl with big, innocent eyes staring up at the stars while humming a tune.

Her voice has quite a distinct quality to it as well. If you ask me to close my eyes and identify her voice, I probably could. Coupled with her bubbly, youthful personality, it's no wonder that a girl like her would create such a deep impression on The Voice of China.

She left her audience in awe when she sang a cover of
白安's '是什么让我遇见这样的你' on The Voice of China so I was happy when she decided to perform this song live. For non-Chinese readers who are reading this entry, I have no idea how to directly translate the song title in a way that makes sense so if you wanna listen to the song, check out the video below!

Hui Lu and Wenqi closing the concert series with a couple of duet songs.
