Watching movies is one of my favourite things to do but there are times when I wish I don't have to share the movie theatre with other people.
For one, you have to obey the theatre rules of being quiet. Other times, you have to tolerate the behaviours of other cinema goers, some of whom might annoy you with their inconsiderate ways.
But what if you have your own room to catch your favourite movie with only your family and friends? Not just a regular room but more like a... personal cinema. Good idea, eh?
Last week, I was introduced to Muvee Space - a new concept of watching movies in cinema-style at your own time and comfort.

Apparently, movie rooms are rather popular overseas and I've personally read about them.
If you've watched the latest Taiwanese movie 'Our Times', you would probably noticed a scene where bad boy Hsu Taiyu was waiting for the lead actress, Truly Lin in a movie room while watching an Andy Lau movie.
It's about time Singapore has its own movie rooms too!
The way it works is pretty similar to a KTV session.
In a KTV session, you book a room which comes with a personal TV screen for a period of time and you gather your friends to sing your hearts out within the allocated timeslot .
Likewise, to enjoy a movie in Muvee Space, you book a room with a personal TV screen for a period of time and you gather your friends to watch a movie within the allocated timeslot. Except that the TV screen is way larger coupled with a Dolby Atmos surround sound to give you the cinematic experience that you desire.
The movie room is spacious and can house up to a maximum of 6 people.
The large, cushy seats were also extremely comfortable and you can even recline your seats if you want to watch your movie in semi-lying position.
Personally, I think that it will be even more homely if we could have some cushions on our seats. They're great to hug and perfect for covering our faces during scary movie scenes.
Bestie and I wanted to celebrate early Christmas together so this was a mega awesome place for us to catch up and enjoy each other's company away from the crowd.
Thank you Bestie for spontaneously joining me as a plus one. :)
Akin to a Golden Village Gold Class experience, we got to enjoy complimentary refreshments specially prepared by Muvee Space.
Our refreshments were sweet potato balls and popcorn chicken accompanied by apple juice and lychee drink. Simple snacks that tasted oh so good!
All visitors would be loaned a smart phone to choose a movie and yes, that means you get to control the selection and pace of the movies.
So, if you're bored of the movie you're watching, do not hesitate to switch to another one. If you need to pause the movie for a toilet break or to answer a phone call, feel free to do so. That's the advantage of watching a movie in a movie room than in a movie theatre. You call the shots. :)
Our movie slot was 3 hours long and worth $75 per booking.
$75 might seem expensive if you're watching a movie alone in the room (which I wouldn't recommend you to do that since it's not fun) so I would strongly encourage visitors to bring along more friends and split the cost! Sharing is caring!
Currently, the movies available on the selection list aren't exactly the latest in the market but Muvee Space is working to include the latest movies and even movie previews on their list.
More details will be unveiled in the first quarter next year and I'm excited for them.
Bestie and I chose to watch Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials that night. Admittedly, I was the one who decided on the movie because I was eager to watch Youtube Star Ki Hong Lee on the big screens. #supercute #cannotresist
Honestly, I didn't know what Maze Runner was about other than the fact that it was an action pack movie that starred Ki Hong Lee. Bestie didn't know much about this movie either.
It turned out that the Maze Runner was so uber thrilling that it kept us on hypervigilant mode. We didn't know that Maze Runner had some zombie apocalpyse scene that ended up scaring the hell out of us. Basically, when the zombies appeared out of the blue, we screamed in unison. We spent half the time shouting at the characters to run faster and another half the time shutting our ears from those sudden loud sounds. I was glad that there was no one else around to witness our very animated behaviour. :P
So... interested to catch a movie at Muvee Space?
You can choose your movie and book a timeslot on their official website. Enjoy your personal movie experience!
