My 7 Day Skincare Routine with Venna Rice Spa by FABLife

Hey people!

Few weeks back, I was facing immense frustration when my chin, underside of my chin and my neck started sprouting pimples.

Having occasional pimple breakouts at my chin was not surprising since I've had hormonal imbalances for a long time but I've never had pimples at my neck no matter how bad my skin was. Just in case my breakouts were related to the products I've been using, I stopped applying moisturiser, sunscreen and foundation on my neck. I also spammed clay mask at the affected zones in my attempts to dry my pimples. Although that helped a bit, recovery was still slow.

I was recently introduced to Venna Rice Spa ($36 for a bottle of 7 sachets) by FABLIFE founder, Alice Neo. This product is a Makeup Remover + Cleanser + Facial Scrub + Mask made entirely out of natural ingredients. Specifically, it contains:

a) Rice Enzyme Powder - Contains Vitamin E and helps to maintain skin elasticity
b) Multigrain - Diminishes fine lines and wrinkes
c) Soy - Improves the tone and texture of the skin
d) Aloe Vera & Seaweed -  Locks moisture in skin and increases immunity
e) Tea Tree Oil - Acne fighter and oil control
f) Oat Extract - Exfoliates dead skin cells and reduces pore size; also soothes skin and retains moisture

Although Venna Rice Spa has multiple benefits and is suitable for all skin types, it is formulated for people with acne skin. I was hopeful when I saw pictures of people having tremendous skin improvements despite starting off with a full face of active pimple pustules. I decided to test this product for 7 days and ascertain if they work miracles with my recent pimple outbreak.

So these were my skincare products for the 7 days. In the day, I use a facial wash, emulsion and sunscreen (products on the left). At night, I use only Venna Rice Spa (product on the right).

As I happen to have a combination skin type, I was advised to use 1 sachet every night on my face and neck. Although I can use my usual skincare products in the day, I was asked to use serums/ moisturisers after my rice spa treatment only from the 5th night onwards.

So how do I apply the Venna Rice Spa?

1) Using a brush, mix 1 sachet with 12ml of water. You should see the rice powder turning smooth and creamy.

(In case you're wondering how much is 12ml, the brand will provide the measuring cup above so no worries!)

2) Apply a thin layer of product over face and neck. Application might get a bit messy so keep your hair away from your face and use a mask brush. You can massage your face gently with your fingertips in circular motions, concentrating on the acne zones.

3) Apply a thick layer of the remaining product over face and neck. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with water. I normally leave it on for around 10 minutes.

When it's time to rinse, wet your face and rub the product in circular motions to remove it bit by bit. Skin should feel smooth, soft and rejuvenated after that. Heck, I even looked fairer!

The 15 minute wait was actually a really pleasant one because the mask was super cooling and relaxing. It felt like the kind of mask that the beauticians like to use on your face as the last step of a facial. The rice scent was very strong too but thankfully, I like the way it smells.

As the mask was thick and might harden after 10- 15 minutes, washing off needs a bit more effort than usual but you'll love the end result! I was so amazed at how smooth and hydrated my skin was. I skipped my moisturiser because my skin was already naturally moisturised. Nonetheless, if you require an additional moisture boost, you can still go ahead to top up with serums and moisturisers after this rice spa treatment. Specifically for my skin type, I only started using a sleeping mask from the 5th night of my treatment.

I WAS SO DARN IMPRESSED because the results were very evident. As you can tell from my 'Before' picture on the left, I started off with nasty and bumpy breakouts that were persistent and stubborn. On the 2nd and 3rd day, the Venna Rice Spa seemed to draw out the pimple head from the bumps, making them looked very 'poppable'.

By the 4th and 5th day, I could feel the bumps flattening and some of them kinda disappeared too. You can see that in the 'After' picture on the right, my skin was largely cleared up. I still have a few bumps at my chin and neck area today but they were way minimal than before. My pores were less conspicuous and my skin was brighter too. Overall, I was very pleased with the product because it worked a lot better than I expected.

My only gripe with this product is that you cannot keep it for long. As it is made of 100% natural ingredients, it does not have a long shelf life. Thus, if you're using only half a sachet each time, it is recommended to use the next half by the next day as the product would 'go bad' with time.

Nonetheless, it works best if it is used consistently so I will still recommend this product to those who are looking to heal acne breakouts or restore their complexion.
